The WTB Vigilante is a tire with an aggressive tread pattern, designed for trails and enduro.
The tread features high and wide lugs for better grip on the surface and excellent traction even in the initial phase of a turn. All of this in any conditions.
Thanks to the use of three different rubber compounds in TriTec technology, the best results are achieved both in terms of riding performance and tire durability and resilience.
SG2 protection prevents tire punctures and subsequent flats.
The more layers of rubber, the more control on the ride. TriTec compound contains three layers of rubber for optimal levels of traction, support and durability. The high hardness rubber base supports the entire tread and is covered with medium stiffness center knobs and softer side knobs. Dual DNA features two compounds that provide an effective centerline with softer rubber side knobs. The DNA compound utilizes a single layer of rubber throughout the tread to provide consistent traction and maximize durability.
Fast Rolling tires feature a fast and effective centerline compound (shown in orange) that is paired with a softer but still effective side-knob compound (purple). Fast Rolling compound tires prioritize speed and efficiency above all else. High Grip tires, on the other hand, feature a noticeably softer centerline (yellow) and a side-knob compound (green) that increases grip and confidence. High Grip compound tyres prioritise traction in all conditions.
WTB TCS Light tires have a single-layer construction, while TCS Tough tires are double-layered. XC and trail riders often choose TCS Light tires for their minimal weight, while enduro, gravity and electric bike riders prefer TCS Tough for more durability and cornering support. Based on this, it is often advisable to use TCS Light on the front wheel and TCS Tough on the rear wheel.
SG2 is a lightweight nylon layer, contained in single-layer TCS casings, that protects all areas of the tire from bead to bead against cuts and punctures. The technology also improves sidewall stability and overall tire support without the added weight of a solid (double-ply) tire. The fibers inside the SG2 reduce the amount of rubber needed to fill the gaps between the fibers compared to traditional protective layers with round fibers. Third-party lab tests have shown that bead-to-bead SG2 provides 80% more sidewall protection than traditional single-ply tires without SG2.
Tubeless rims and tires have a design adapted for tubeless use, provided they are supplemented with sealant, tape and valves. Tubeless tires provide the rider with many benefits - the ability to run the tire with lower air pressure, which improves traction, lower rolling resistance compared to a tube tire, and less chance of a puncture.
