The Academy Grade 4 is a lightweight 20" children's bike with high-quality components, suitable for kids from 115 to 130 cm tall, aged 6 to 8 years.
The weight of the bike significantly influences how much children enjoy their ride. A quality children's bike must be light and easily adaptable. That's why the bike weighs only 7.5 kg and is equipped with high-quality components. The lowered top tube makes it easier for children to get on and off the bike.
Stem
The patented Syntace Vario stem grows with children in height and length. It is smoothly adjustable and 100% stable in every position.
Q-Factor
The Q-factor describes the overall width of the pedal cranks and plays an important role in the efficiency of pedaling. Ideally, the bike's Q-factor should match the rider's natural step width. A smaller Q-factor is more ergonomic, while a too-large Q-factor forces the legs into an "X" shape during pedaling. This prevents ergonomic, smooth pedaling and can lead to knee pain and quick fatigue. Academy bikes have one of the smallest Q-factors on the market and are therefore ideally designed for children.
Saddle
The flat saddle provides maximum support and prevents slipping off. The optimal saddle cover (neither too soft nor too hard) prevents sinking in and offers a comfortable and secure seat, enhancing both comfort and riding pleasure!
Tires
Since Academy children's bikes focus on the power-to-weight ratio for children, the bike features lightweight and narrow VEE TIRE Rail tires. Their tread pattern makes them ideal for both city rides and gravel paths. Additionally, they look great and provide necessary visibility in traffic thanks to the reflective stripes.

The developers of Academy bikes, in collaboration with the German Institute for Orthopedics, Osteopathy, and Sports Medicine (DIOOS) led by Dr. Andreas Elsner, have managed to develop ultra-light children's bikes that meet the latest ergonomic requirements. All models weigh less than 40% of the average child's weight, and frames with low and narrow bottom brackets allow children to pedal effortlessly. The short cranks and upright seating position always enable them to reach the ground with their feet, ensuring an ergonomic knee position while riding.
