Academy Grade 4 Edition Funtasy is a lightweight 20" children's bike with high-quality components, suitable for kids from 115 to 130 cm in height, ages 6 to 8 years.
The weight of the bike significantly affects how much children enjoy riding it. A quality children's bike must be lightweight and easily adjustable. Therefore, the bike weighs only 7.5 kg and is equipped with quality components. The lowered top tube makes it easier for children to get on and off.
Stem
The patented Syntace Vario stem grows with the children both in height and length. It is smoothly adjustable and 100% stable in every position.
Q-factor
The Q-factor describes the overall width of the cranks and plays an important role in pedaling efficiency. Ideally, the bike's Q-factor should match the rider's natural stride width. A smaller Q-factor is more ergonomic, while a too-large Q-factor forces the legs into a "X" shape when pedaling. This prevents ergonomically correct, smooth pedaling, which can lead to knee pain and rapid fatigue. Academy bikes have one of the smallest Q-factors on the market and are therefore ideally designed for children.
Saddle
The flat saddle provides maximum support and prevents slipping off. The optimal saddle cover (neither too soft nor too hard) prevents sinking and provides a comfortable and confident sitting posture, enhancing both comfort and joy in riding!
Tires
Since Academy kids' bikes consider the power-to-weight ratio in children, they come with lightweight and narrow VEE TIRE Rail tires. Thanks to their tread, they are ideal for both city cycling and riding on gravel paths. Additionally, they look good and provide the necessary visibility in traffic thanks to reflective stripes.
Belt Drive
Here, too, the bikes adhere to the "super lightweight concept" – belt drives are extremely light. Additional advantages include lower maintenance requirements, longer lifespan, and a very quiet operation.
Designed by SCOOL
Developers at Academy, in collaboration with the German Institute for Orthopedics, Osteopathy, and Sports Medicine (DIOOS) led by Dr. Andreas Elsner, have succeeded in developing ultra-light children's bikes that meet the latest ergonomic requirements. All models are lighter than 40% of the average child's weight, and frames with low and narrow center brackets allow kids to pedal effortlessly. Short cranks and an upright seating position always enable children to reach the ground with their feet while ensuring an ergonomic knee position when riding.
