Mallet E Speed Lace Enduro Shoes by Crankbrothers for clip-in pedals.
MC1 compound sole was developed for use with clip-in pedals: it features a large box around the cleats for easy clipping in and out even in mud, with a stiff nylon insert under the cleats for great power transfer to the pedal.
The tread pattern of the sole is designed for use with any MTB clip-in pedals, including SPD. The rigid section of the tread under the pedal transfers pedaling into forward movement. Softer zones of the sole under the toe and heel with a directional tread allow for secure walking uphill and downhill.
For a more comfortable ride experience, the shoes are equipped with a padded EVA insole that absorbs shocks.
The shoes fasten easily and quickly using the Speed Lace system. To prevent the laces from getting in the way and tangling in the chain, the shoes have a pocket on the tongue. For even better fastening, the shoes feature a Velcro strap.
The shoes are made from durable synthetic fiber. Ventilated mesh panels ensure high breathability. Rubber on the heel and toe provides protection for both feet and shoes.
EVA, literally Ethylene-vinyl acetate is also known as Polyethylene-vinyl acetate i.e. PEVA. It is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate, as the name suggests. The weight of the vinyl acetate component is in the range of 10 to 40% and the remainder is ethylene itself. Its physical properties is as an elastomeric polymer, i.e. a substance that excels in high elasticity. Thanks to its unique composition, it ranks among the most light yet flexible and soft materials. It is therefore not a classic thermoplastic, which is often commonly used for the production of many products around us.
