The aluminum XC hardtail XTC SLR 29 1 offers a more affordable alternative to the carbon models of the XTC Advanced 29.
It was designed with a strong emphasis on a great balance between efficiency and control, which is the ideal combination for performance and racing cross-country rides.
The new XTC SLR frame is the absolute lightest aluminum frame ever produced in Giant factories. By utilizing high-quality ALUXX SLR alloy and an advanced butting process, the tubes of this frame are 20% thinner and therefore lighter than the previous ALUXX SL model. This combination of premium material and the latest manufacturing methods results in frames that are not only very light but also extremely stiff and durable.
The frame is constructed with an aim for the optimal stiffness-to-weight ratio, which is reflected not only in high pedaling efficiency but also in precise bike handling under various conditions. The specially race-tuned frame geometry provides the perfect stability and control on all XC terrains.
The Giant Crest 34 RRL air fork offers 100mm of travel and is equipped with remote lockout. The Giant XCT 29 wheels are tubeless-ready straight from the factory for better riding properties and reduced risk of flats - just apply the sealant. For extra confidence on descents and technical sections, the bike can be equipped with a 30.9mm dropper post.
Aluminum material is made predominantly from 6011 alloy and delivers the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any Giant aluminum frameset. State-of-the-art microscopic grain manipulation and advanced butting allows for 20% thinner and lighter tube shapes than ALUXX SL framesets.
The oversized fork steerer aims to increase the stiffness of the front of the frameset and steering for precise control. Oversized headset bearings (bottom 1 1/4" and top 1 1/8" on road bikes and bottom 1 1/2" and top 1 1/8" on MTB bikes) and tapered fork steerer are included for optimal steering stiffness .
Tubeless rims and tires have a design adapted for tubeless use, provided they are supplemented with sealant, tape and valves. Tubeless tires provide the rider with many benefits - the ability to run the tire with lower air pressure, which improves traction, lower rolling resistance compared to a tube tire, and less chance of a puncture.
