The Roc Loc 5.5 retention system aids in excellent head support. The helmet has 32 vents that allow air to flow through, preventing sweating. The top and bottom feature a layer of durable polycarbonate that prevents everyday wear and tear.
The MIPS system provides enhanced protection against rotational forces on the head. The goal of this technology is to mitigate rotational forces that occur upon impact at any angle. For example, if your helmet catches on a branch while riding, the shell can rotate a few millimeters over the MIPS layer, protecting the head from a sudden rotational jerk.
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall. This technology is being used by more and more major and minor helmet manufacturers, so if a helmet has this technology, you can tell by the small yellow logo on the outside of the helmet. In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact.
