Giro Fixture II MIPS Youth is a versatile junior MTB helmet suitable primarily for trail riding, but also for classic MTB outings.
The helmet features a proven In-mold construction with 16 ventilation holes, which ensures maximum safety and comfort together with the Roc Loc® Sport adjustment system.
Additionally, it features MIPS technology, which further enhances its safety.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall.
