IBIS Ripley SL XTR Di2 Carbon Wheel mountain bike Gold Rush is a full-suspension MTB for XC and marathon use, built around the Ripley SL carbon frame and Shimano XTR Di2 electronic shifting. It’s a performance-focused build for experienced riders who care about pedaling efficiency, low component weight, and precise power delivery on technical climbs as well as fast descents.
The foundation is the IBIS Ripley SL Carbon, a carbon-composite frame tuned for race-oriented XC/trail riding with short rear travel. For the Ripley SL, the manufacturer lists 117 mm of rear travel, which in this build is paired with a 130 mm travel fork—so the overall intent points toward modern, fast XC with extra margin in technical terrain. The headset is specified as a Cane Creek 50 in IS41/IS52 sizes.
The drivetrain is based on Shimano XTR Di2 in a 1×12 configuration, with a Shimano XTR Di2 Shift Switch and a Shimano XTR Di2 SGS rear derailleur. Gearing is handled by a Shimano XTR 9–45T cassette and Shimano XTR M9220 cranks with a 30T chainring (165 mm crank length for S–M, 170 mm for XM–XL), complemented by a Shimano XTR MT-900 bottom bracket and a Shimano XTR chain. Braking is provided by Shimano XTR M9220 4-piston brakes with Shimano XTR CL-900 180/180 mm rotors, a setup aimed at stable performance even under prolonged load. The wheels are built on Ibis S28 Carbon Rims and i9 Hydra 2 CL hubs; tires are Continental Magnotal 29×2.4 Trail Soft up front and Continental Dubnital 29×2.4 Trail Grip in the rear. The cockpit uses a carbon Blackbird 35 Carbon Riser Bar 800 mm and a Blackbird 35 stem (35 mm for S–M, 50 mm for XM–XL); saddle contact is handled by a WTB Silverado Fusion Ti 142 and a BikeYoke Revive 31.6 mm dropper post with travel depending on size (125/160/185/213 mm).
The combination of short rear travel (117 mm) and a 130 mm Fox Factory 34SL fork suggests a bike designed first and foremost to maintain pedaling efficiency, while still offering confidence on rough ground and in faster descents. Ibis S28 carbon rims and fast-engaging i9 Hydra 2 CL hubs support an immediate response under acceleration and during pace changes typical of XC courses and marathons. The XTR M9220 four-piston brakes with 180/180 mm rotors push braking consistency toward trail-bike territory, which makes sense for a more aggressive approach to descents and longer alpine downhills. XTR Di2 electronic shifting increases gear-selection precision under load and over chatter, where mechanical controls are more prone to being thrown off by hand movement.
This IBIS Ripley SL with XTR Di2 is aimed at experienced riders who ride XC, marathons, and technical fast trails and want a blend of race efficiency with more descending headroom thanks to the 130 mm fork and the more robust brake setup. Compared with pure race XC full-suspension bikes with a 100 mm fork, it’s geared more toward courses with technical features and higher speeds, where the more stable chassis and wider 29×2.4 tires will stand out.
