The new downhill tire from Maxxis named Assegai was developed with significant contribution from downhill legend Greg Minnaar.
The tread pattern of the tire is based on a combination of the proven Minion DHR II and DHF patterns in the center section, with DHF rolling well and providing confidence on hard surfaces, in corners, on wet roots, and rocks, while DHR II adds speed and aggressiveness during braking.
The design of the side knobs takes inspiration from another popular tire, the High Roller. On top of that, consider the Wide Trail construction for wide rims, tubeless compatibility, dual sidewall reinforcement, and an excellent 3C Maxx Grip compound, and you have an outstanding downhill tire.
