The Occam is a trail bike suited for those who love ascents and descents on undiscovered trails, who want to ride alone at night with a headlamp as well as with friends for rides, and who want their bike to look good and perform well, ensuring they can get back to the start safely over obstacles.
The Occam has a balanced geometry focused on speed, efficiency, and above all, fun across a wide range of tracks.
The asymmetric offset design offers unique advantages besides stiffness and low weight. Avoiding a split seat tube provides more space for posts and improves access to shock controls.
The neat design also leaves space for a water bottle with easy access from the left side.
The Occam features the latest internal cable routing using silicone plugs at the frame entry and exit points and smart tubes connecting the front and rear triangles, ensuring your cables are fully protected.
The Occam uses a new two-part linkage design. Fewer pieces mean greater stiffness and less chance of something working loose. Additionally, Orbea created space in the axle and filled it with a practical multi-tool with 4 wrenches securely held in place with magnets.
Types of materials:
Aluminum frames: Orbea uses aluminum production technologies that are as advanced as carbon processes. High-quality aluminum tubes undergo structural alignment processes before going through an advanced hydroforming process. These processes increase strength and allow fine-tuning of stiffness while optimizing frame weight.
OMR Carbon frames: In Orbea Monocoque Race (OMR) frame production, high-modulus and high-strength fibers are added to the standard fiber arrangement to improve the stiffness-to-weight ratio. This type of production prevents wrinkling and inconsistencies in critical areas, allowing the use of less carbon while maintaining strength.
Orbea Monocoque Carbon frames: The most technologically advanced carbon construction available for the most sophisticated frame – A complex and meticulous process with results you'll appreciate in the saddle.
High Polish: The biggest innovation for alloys is the addition of new high-polish welds on Orbea hydroformed frames. Every weld on the main frame is polished smooth, matching the aesthetics of a monocoque frame, but importantly, weld polishing increases fatigue resistance in these high-stress points. The High Polish requires hours of manual labor and blasting, so only Orbea’s most exclusive frames are manufactured this way.
