An innovative technology that Pirelli brought to the world of cycling through experiences and backgrounds in motorsports: a newly designed bead and sidewall tire construction that further enhances its features—handling at low air pressures and pinch-flat resistance. Key features for off-road use, especially in the most demanding disciplines like gravity and eMTB, are the integrity of the tire bead and sidewall stability. The tread pattern relies significantly on the stability and integrity of the bead and sidewall. Pirelli introduced a construction where the bead and the sidewall rubber insert are firmly held together by a fabric material coupling, so they act as a single piece, not two separate components that can move relative to each other, which is the common standard in tire construction. Benefits of this technology in numbers (according to internal Pirelli laboratory and practical tests): improved bead stability (+10%), better pinch-flat protection (+50%), better handling at low air pressures (+25%), greater sidewall tear resistance.
The HyperWALL construction is a technology intended for mountain e-bikes as it provides additional sidewall reinforcement and better puncture resistance. The rubber insert firmly coupled with the bead delivers excellent pinch-flat protection while also offering stronger support at lower inflation pressures.
