The SMITH Sidekick Jr. helmet gives kids the style and protection that "big" bikers have.
This helmet combines a classic MTB look, extended back-of-head coverage, and the proven Mips® Safety System, which helps protect during angled impacts and falls.
Lightweight in-mold construction merges a strong outer shell with EPS foam cushioning into one durable and comfortable unit.
Thanks to the adjustable dial fit system, the helmet easily adapts to different head sizes—with two child sizes available for riders approximately 4 to 12 years old.
An integrated visor, comfortable inner padding, and twelve ventilation openings ensure a constant supply of fresh air.
The AirEvac™ system ensures that goggles don't fog, and due to the low profile and lightweight strap, the helmet is almost unnoticeable on the head.
Mips is a technology in the form of a special yellow insert inside the helmet, which has the task of reducing rotational forces acting on the head and brain in the event of a crash or fall while riding a bicycle. In principle, Mips works between two layers of the helmet shell, which rotate in relation to each other during a fall. This technology is being used by more and more major and minor helmet manufacturers, so if a helmet has this technology, you can tell by the small yellow logo on the outside of the helmet. Currently there are about 5 kinds of Mips system.
EPS is expanded polystyrene. It is a strong and rigid material with a cellular structure, composed of 2% polystyrene and the rest is air.
AirEvac is a patented ventilation system that works with the ventilation holes on the Smith glasses, they have a constant flow of air through the entire system. Ventilation in the front of the helmet brings cool, dry air into strategically placed channels in the helmet shell. Vents on the top and back of the shell are used to exhaust hot air that would otherwise be trapped around the wearer's head. This airflow contributes to a more comfortable riding experience and also helps prevent the glasses from fogging up.
