Talon is a men's mountain e-bike suitable for beginners and advanced riders who prefer easier and slightly undulating terrains. With motor support from Yamaha in the modified SyncDrive Core motor and an integrated EnergyPak Smart battery, a new dimension of mountain biking will be "opened up" to you.
SyncDrive Core by Yamaha (50 Nm)
Basic version of the motor is called Core. Yamaha motors are customized by Giant, adding a huge bonus in the form of SmartAssist - this feature allows automatic power adjustment by evaluating data from 6 sensors used. With the RideControl app, you can personalize your bike's settings via smartphone.
SR Suntour XCR 32 Boost LO, 100 mm travel
Forks by Suntour are often seen as a quality alternative to more expensive brands. Spring-loaded suspension fork lockable from the crown with 100mm of travel is primarily intended for XC/Marathon rides. Therefore, most trails will be "smoothed out" to your satisfaction thanks to this fork.
EnergyPak 500 Wh
The e-bike's battery allows the use of assistance levels for assisted riding. The larger the battery capacity, the more kilometers you can cover. The range is 120 km with mild assistance. This Performance level frame material features 6061 alloy with single-butted tubes to produce strong, lightweight framesets for a variety of different bikes and riding styles.
The SyncDrive Core is a compact and lightweight motor that is ideal for city riding or recreational riding in the countryside, for example. The motor is tuned for 50 Nm of torque and a maximum boost of 300%, which are optimum values for the purpose of this motor and also help to reduce battery power consumption. There's no need to select a specific driving mode, you can fully rely on the automatic mode and drive in exactly the same way you're used to, but with more power. The result is an extremely comfortable, quiet and natural driving experience.
Our view:
SyncDrive Core is Giant's entry-level line of electric bike motors. It's the ideal option for urban or trekking e-bikes that you ride on moderately profiled terrain. Smart Assist technology includes six sensors including incline and acceleration/deceleration detection (called accelerometer). These sensors allow the motor to produce power based on rider input and the type of terrain the rider is currently navigating.
