The Giro Merit Spherical is a versatile MTB helmet suitable primarily for trail riding.
The helmet features proven In-mold construction with 15 ventilation holes, which ensures maximum safety and comfort together with the Roc Loc® fit system.
Additionally, it is equipped with Spherical powered by MIPS technology, which only enhances its safety.
In-Mold technology can be found most often in bicycle and ski helmets. The principle consists in injecting compressed polystyrene into a polycarbonate shell at high temperatures and pressures (approx. 330°C). This connection ensures high strength at very low weight. Polystyrene absorbs energy in the event of an impact, but it deforms, which is why the helmet must be replaced after a major impact. Helmets produced by In-Mold technology and associated have a weight of 350-550 g.
Spherical technology uses two separate inserts to help manage impact forces. The material and density of the inner and outer liner can be optimized with progressive layering to help handle a wide range of impact forces. When you combine the benefits of progressive layering with the market-leading MIPS® Brain Protection System, which helps redirect rotational motion away from the brain, you get more comprehensive protection.
