The Maxxis Minion DHF is a legendary downhill tire primarily designed for the front wheel.
It features beveled knobs to reduce rolling resistance with grooved channels to increase the number of contact edges, providing better control in straight lines and precise cornering.
Depending on track conditions, the DHF version can be used on both the front and rear or on the front in combination with the DHR on the rear.
The universal Dual Compound mix offers maximum grip in corners and on muddy surfaces, while also delivering good durability and high mileage.
The tire construction consists of a Kevlar bead and 60 TPI casing with EXO Protection for the sidewalls, a Wide Trail design for wider rims, and is of course Tubeless Ready.
EXO is a puncture and abrasion resistant material that is added to the sidewalls of many Maxxis MTB and gravel tires. Choose EXO Protection for superior durability in gravel, XC and light trail riding.
Tubeless tyres have many advantages: you can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance.
And where there is no tube, it also reduces the risk of punctures. Maxxis TR tires are better prepared to be mounted with sealant than other "tubeless" tires. The bead of TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer like a true tubeless UST tire.
Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tread pattern and profile of the tire on today's modern wider rims. Traditional tires are designed around older, narrower rims and can create an overly square tire profile, resulting in less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for 35mm inner rim widths, but have been proven to work in the 30-35mm inner rim width range. Maxxis Wide Trail XC tires are optimized for use with 30mm inner rims, but will work well on rims as narrow as 25mm. Maxxis does not recommend rims wider than 30 mm or narrower than 25 mm.
