Whether it's pure racing, where everything depends on speed and a good line, or relaxed and easy riding, Scorpion XC is based on the SmartGRIP compound offering excellent grip and traction in both dry and wet conditions, with constructions of LITE (low weight, high speed) or ProWALL (enhanced puncture protection and high speed).

ProWALL
Sidewall reinforcement technology for greater puncture resistance and more stable performance when using low tire pressures. An added layer of nylon fabric over the sidewall's carcass increases resistance not only against cuts and pinches but also improves overall tire behavior in corners, allowing for better bike handling and more precise track holding. These features were achieved without compromising tire weight and power transfer efficiency, making tires with this technology perfect for use in racing XC applications to aggressive trail riding, when paired with the appropriate carcass (120tpi or 60tpi).

SmartGRIP
This top-tier compound is a product of Pirelli's experience gained from off-road racing circuits around the world for both 2 and 4 wheels. Pirelli engineers developed a compound with two diametrically opposed characteristics:
• cut resistance: guarantees maximum mechanical grip and traction in dry conditions and higher puncture resistance along with longer durability
• chemical grip in wet conditions: no need to worry about changing conditions, whether it will rain or if there will be muddy and slippery sections on the track

The result is a longer lifespan of tire performance, which has excellent grip and traction in opposing conditions like dry and wet, while also maintaining these riding characteristics even with tread wear. Unlike multi-compound rubber mixtures, the single-compound SmartGRIP composition ensures balanced riding properties throughout the tire's wear and entire lifespan. Greater mechanical strength of the rubber also provides higher resistance not only against wear but also against punctures.
