Unlike previous models, the Hupahu MX1 400 features an upgraded Bafang with 48V instead of 36V, which you'll notice right after the first pedal stroke. To such an extent that it makes us want to say: "The king is dead (36V Bafang), long live the king (48V Bafang). High-capacity battery with enhanced technology, integrated Bafang system (display, battery, and motor are from the same manufacturer), and higher quality basic components (Chinese wires use 70% copper, compared to Polish ones with 30%).
Theupgraded Bafang M400 looks exactly the same as the standard M400. But the difference is significant! Better cables (70% copper versus 30% prevents more losses between the battery and the motor), improved voltage from 36V to 48V are something that elevates the average bike to the upper mid-range, and you'll know it after a few cranks. Together with the 840Wh battery, the electric bike's primary focus is on range.
Our view:
The upgraded Bafang is a good choice if you don't want/can't/need to invest more than £60,000 in an e-bike. This is similar to the previous model. However, the difference here is that with the upgraded Bafang M400 you get more power and more range at the same time. Highly recommended for those who mainly ride on paved roads and don't want to be limited by height meters.

Batteries are one of the most valuable components on an electric bike. They often make up 1/3 of the total price of an e-bike. There are several parameters that affect the range of an e-bike: type of terrain, tyre profile, rider weight, assistance used, etc. you can read more in our blog.
The advantage of Bafang batteries is the improved BMS (battery management system). Thanks to temperature and voltage sensors, the BMS can switch individual cells on and off to avoid a significant reduction in range and for the longest possible life of the battery itself.
A special feature of this battery is the increase in voltage to 48V, which allows you to use larger cells, with the same battery size, and increase your range.
The clear colour LCD display shows not only basic information on battery status and the level of assistance currently used, but also other data related to the ride (speed, distance travelled, etc.). The display is also equipped with a USB connector for charging mobile devices (phone, navigation, lighting, etc.). It is most often found on electric bikes with Bafang motor.
The display shows the speed on the main panel, at the bottom centre you can see the level of assistance.
At the bottom of the display you can use the "i" button to change the information displayed - current speed, average speed, trip, total distance and range.
