Orbea Terra H40 gravel bike Black/carbon gloss is an aluminium gravel bike designed for riding on asphalt, gravel, and for bikepacking. The 2027 model year targets the mid-performance category, where a reliable drivetrain and modern tire clearance are key. The concept is built around thru-axles and disc brakes for stable handling in changing terrain.
The foundation is the Orbea Terra Hydro disc frame made from hydroformed triple-butted aluminium alloy. The HS 1.5" head tube increases front-end stiffness under braking and when holding a line. The frame uses a 12 × 142 mm thru-axle and DT internal cable routing for a clean setup on the road. The seat tube for a 27.2 mm diameter helps improve comfort on long rides and with a loaded bike.
The Orbea Terra Race ICR carbon fork features a tapered steerer from 1-1/8" to 1.5" and a 12 × 100 mm thru-axle. The MMS multi mount system expands accessory mounting options for bikepacking. The fork is ready for fender installation, increasing usability for year-round riding.
Drivetrain: Shimano U6030 shifting works with 11 speeds and a Shimano Cues U6000 GS Shadow rear derailleur. Shimano Cues U6040 cranks use a 40-tooth chainring, and the Shimano CS-LG400 cassette offers an 11–50 tooth range.
Brakes: Shimano RS405 hydraulic disc brakes deliver consistent power even on long descents. The bike is built around the disc standard for gravel riding and carrying bags.
Wheels and tires: The wheelset is aluminium, tubeless, in the 700c standard, with a 21c internal width. Vittoria Terreno T50 mixed Gravel Sport Rigid tires come in 700 × 40c.
Cockpit: OC Gravel GR31-R handlebars have 15 mm rise, 70 mm reach, and 110 mm drop. The OC Road Performance RP23 stem has a −5° angle, and the saddle is a Fizik Terra Argo X7 140 mm.
The hydroformed aluminium frame with an enlarged head tube emphasizes lateral stiffness and precise steering on fast gravel. The carbon fork reduces the transfer of high-frequency vibrations from the front wheel and improves trail feedback. The combination of a 40-tooth chainring and an 11–50 cassette supports a smooth cadence on long climbs with a load. Tubeless 700c wheels and 700 × 40c tires maintain speed on the flats while still handling rough surfaces.
This bike is intended for experienced riders who want a gravel bike for training, all-day rides, and multi-day bikepacking. It suits those who prefer a simple single chainring up front and a wide-range cassette. Compared to pure race gravel bikes, it offers more practical provisions for racks, fenders, and additional mounting points on the fork.
